The Fashion Golden Globe Losers!

Some people can get it so wrong when it comes to big award ceremonies. The majority of them are generally quite stylish but whether it's the nerves or just bad stylists (that should be sacked the minute that 'worst dress' photo comes out the next day) there are still some stars that get it very wrong.

My first worst gown had to be Blake Lively from Gossip Girl in this Nina Ricci gown. The only real problem I have with this dress is that it does not fit her at all and if it wasn't for the slit up the leg she would not have been able to walk up the red carpet. Being too tight it does nothing for her and I don't see why she didn't opt for a better dress. This gown isn't even that special it's plain and not a nice colour or cut. Along with the simple, two sizes too small, dress she went for the girl next door hair style which does not go with the dress or make her look any more glamorous.

I love Christina Applegate but when I saw this picture I just screamed why?? Who would let her out looking like 'Belle' from Beauty and the Beast? It looks like she picked up the dress in Disney land not Roberto Cavalli. The canary yellow is a nice colour on her it's just a pity the style of the dress is hideous and does nothing but make her look broad and flat-chested.

When I saw J.Lo's gown it brought me back to the Versace gown she wore for the Grammys in 2000. This was shocking at the time and she did look fantastic in it but this gown by Marchessa is a 'you've done it before' dress. I can’t deny she looks fantastic and it does wonders but with the slit up the side the low cut at the front and back, I can’t help but ask was she going to leave anything to the imagination? She clearly chose this dress to show everyone she is back to her fabulous self after giving birth to twins, but she could have looked just as good and less slutty if she'd opted for a more mother appropriate classy gown.

Even though these celebs did get it wrong they were nothing compared to Renee Zellweger's BIG blunder. This Carolina Herrera gown is the most hideous thing I've seen in years, on anyone. How she was allowed out in that dress is beyond me, she should sack immediately anyone who told her she looked fantastic in that gown because they are not the people you need around you as a celeb. They clearly care for their job more than they do about making her look good. Not only is this dress draining to Zellweger's skin colour but the see-through top and skin colour bra/corset thing underneath just looks wrong. She didn't help matters by wearing her hair up like a bird’s nest and the lack of make-up on her face. A gown is supposed to make the star only look more flawless and glamorous yet this Carolina Herra gown only made Renee look possessed.

Golden Globes-The Fashion Winners

The Golden Globes was the first big award ceremony in celeb land for 2009 and with that the stars came out in their droves with their long, over the top( in some cases) gowns and millions of dollars worth of diamonds wrapped around their necks, wrists and anywhere else they could get them. Mostly they got it right and there were some fantastic gowns like the four best I've chosen.

Eva Longoria looked fantastic in red this Reem Acra dress was anything but simple with the mermaid silhouette which was a red-carpet favourite this year. She got it right by toning down her make-up and keeping her hair simple so as not to take away from this magnificent dress.
Anne Hathaway also got it very right in this striking satin feathered navy dress. She also kept her hair and make-up simple so as not to out-do this beautiful dress by Giorgio Armani Prive . Even though some people criticised her choice in colour with her pale skin, it was nice to see one star on the carpet that hadn't been tangoed. Can anyone else see an uncanny look alike to Audrey Hepburn in this picture?

Eva Mendes was wearing another one of my favourite gowns of the night she was dressed in Dior topped off with breath-taking Jewellery by Van Cleef & Arpels . This dress only enhanced Mendes’s already fantastic figure and screamed sophistication. Her up- do went perfectly with the dress and the neck piece did not take away from the dress at all but just added to the glamour of it. She definitely stood out in that gown.

My favourite of the night was Kate Beckinsale's gown by J Mendel. Kate also went for the bun effect with her gown so as to keep all attention on the fantastic gown. The gown, fitting as it is, fits her perfectly and highlights her in all the right ways. She looks fantastic. The earrings being over-sized and sticking with the style of the moment add a nice style to the entire outfit as a neck piece would have been too much. Kate definitely gets my golden globe for the dress of the night.
